Saving
Files to a CD-R
|

Due to formatting issues, we recommend using only CD-R on Library computers. CD-RW disks require formatting before use and are only readable by computers with compatible software. Some older computers will not be able to access files saved on CD-RW disks. Saving to a New CD-R o
Save your file TEMPORARILY to the desktop o
This step is not necessary for files you are copying from a floppy or
ZIP disk o
Insert the new CD-R disk in the drive o
In the “General” folder, double click on “CD Burner” o
If the upgrade message appears, click “OK” o
The “Select a Project” screen should now appear o
Click on the “Make a Data CD” button o
Select “Data CD Project” o
In the top window, locate and select the file you want to save on the
CD-R o
Click on the “Add” button in the center of the screen o
Notice that your file now appears in the lower window o
Repeat the selection and adding process until all files are listed in
the lower window o
Click on the red “Record” button o
Wait for the “Finished” message to appear on the left side of the screen
o
Open “My Computer” and verify that files copied correctly o
Your new CD will be readable on most CD-ROM drives o
DELETE YOUR FILE(S) FROM THE DESKTOP Adding to a CD-R with Previously Recorded Files o
You can save normally to a previously formatted disk which is compatible with the software on the computer. We cannot guarantee
compatibility with software for CDs recorded on non-Lab computers. o
To save an open file: o
Insert your CD in the drive o
At “CD Ready” dialog box, click OK o
Select File à
Save As o
Select Drive E: and save o
When completed, press the CD eject button o
Choose “Close to Save on Any Computer”, click on OK o
Wait for computer to process o
Click OK in the “CD Ejected” dialog box and remove your CD
