Master of Biomedical Sciences Program

The  Stratford Division of the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences (GSBS) of UMDNJ is pleased to announce a new program for the fall of 2004:  Master of Biomedical Sciences Program.  This program is designed as an evening program targeting those students who seek an advanced interdisciplinary Masters degree in the Biomedical Sciences.  The Master of Biomedical Sciences program is a multi-disciplinary program that offers the possibility of completing the requirements for a Master of Science in Biomedical Science (M.S. - thesis) or a Master of Biomedical Science (M.B.S. - non-thesis) degree.

Students electing the Master of Science in Biomedical Science (thesis) will be required to satisfactorily complete 25 credit hours of course work and a thesis (5 credits) acceptable to the Thesis Advisory Committee of the student.  Students choosing the Master of Biomedical Science (non-thesis) track will be required to satisfactorily complete 30 hours of course work.

Students choosing either the Master of Science in Biomedical Science (thesis) or the Master of Biomedical Sciences (non-thesis) program must complete 16 hours of required courses including:

1)   Fundamentals of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (I) (3 credits),

2)   Fundamentals of Cell Biology (II) (3 credits),

3)   Fundamentals of Systems Biology (III) (3 credits),

4)   Ethics in Science, Research and Scholarship (2 credits),

5)   Introduction to Biostatistics (3 credits),

6)   Seminar in Biomedical Sciences (2 credits).

In addition, students in the thesis track are required to complete 9 hours of electives, plus 5 hours of thesis credits, while non-thesis track students must complete 14 hours of elective credits.

The Master of Biomedical Science Program is open only to citizens or permanent residents of the U.S.A.
