So what are the basics to classify these three different types of Connective Tissue? The Best Way to approach this is to just look at it and ask your self two questions. First is it dense (thick) or Loose (stringy or thinly packed)? Than, if you answered dense to the first question, now you want to ask yourself if it is irregular (going in every which way with no order or pattern) or regular (fibers in a the same direction or same pattern)? Lets start with Image 1. So is it dense or loose? You can tell by comparing it to the other to that it is loosely packed, and very stringy. So we can safely call it Loose Connective Tissue Now lets look at Image 2. Dense or Loose? Comparing it to the first one, and with all the red tissue it looks very thick and dense. So we can safely say it is dense. Now is it Regular or Irregular? Comparing it to image 3, there is no real pattern to it, and the fibers look like they are running in all directions. So here we can say that it is Dense Irregular Connective Tissue. Lastly lets look at Image 3. Dense or Loose? Here, in comparison to the others, it definitely looks thick. Now is it regular or irregular? Comparing it to image 2 it looks very regular. The fibers look like they are all parallel running relatively in the same direction. So here we can say it is Dense Regular Tissue. So just remember these two questions and you cant go wrong. If the fibers look like they have a regular pattern to them , you can classify it as Regular. If it just a real thick connective tissue with no pattern, than you can call it irregular. |
