Introduction The Respiratory System: The respiratory system consists of a conducting portion and a respiratory portion. The former includes the nasal cavities, pharynx, larynx, trachea, bronchi and parts of the bronchioles in the lungs. The respiratory part is composed of structures in the lungs that are distal to the terminal bronchioles. These include the respiratory bronchioles, alveolar ducts and sacs and the alveoli themselves. In these structures, gas exchange occurs. |
