UNIVERSITY OF MEDICINE AND DENTISTRY OF NEW JERSEY
Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences

FOREIGN APPLICANTS

Thank you for your interest in the UMDNJ-Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. Unfortunately, the widespread use of e-mail has dramatically increased the number of requests for information and applications. As a small school, it has become prohibitively expensive to send application packages overseas.

Please note that an application for admission and general information regarding our programs and research opportunities is available on this web site. Please feel free to contact us if you have any specific questions.

As an additional resource for foreign students, UMDNJ provides the Office of International Services.

IMPORTANT NOTE TO FOREIGN APPLICANTS

The UMDNJ-Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences receives about 1500 applications annually from foreign countries. Since our entering class consists of only about 6-8 students each year, competition for these places forces us to be highly selective in our admission criteria. Therefore, we are unlikely to admit foreign applicants with verbal and math scores of less than 450 and 650, respectively, on the Graduate Record Examination (GRE), and less than 200 (paper test), 550 (computer test) on the TOEFL. In addition, we look for a demonstration of interest and experience in basic research, especially in areas that compliment the research interests of our faculty.

If you wish to apply for admission, submit a completed application and arrange for the required documents to be forwarded to the Graduate School. Please note that the $40 application fee must be received before your application will be considered. We cannot preview your credentials or indicate the likelihood of acceptance prior to receipt of the application fee.

If you will receive your Baccalaureate degree later than June, do not apply for the coming fall semester. No visa form will be sent until you have been accepted by the Graduate School and we receive evidence that the degree has been awarded.

The application fee is NOT REFUNDABLE. Consider your credentials carefully before applying.
