Master of Science in Biomedical Science

DESCRIPTION OF THE PROGRAM:
The program is a 30 credit, one to two year (maximum of 4 years), and
multidisciplinary series of graduate or a mixture
of graduate and medical courses.
Required courses for Masters students:
1. Fundamentals in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology I(3 credits)
2. Fundamentals in Cell Biology II (3 credits)
3. Fundamentals in Systems Biology III (3 credits)
4. Seminar in Biomedical Science (2 credits)
All other courses are electives, as is a research-based thesis. Students electing to do a research thesis can substitute 5 credits of thesis research for 5 credits of didactic course work and must take the Ethics in Science, Research, Scholarship (2 credits) course. Electives include advanced courses in anatomy, microbiology, neuroscience, pharmacology, physiology, cell biology, laboratory animal science and other subject areas within the graduate school. Students must maintain a B (3.0) grade point average to remain in good academic standing and to graduate. A maximum of two medical school courses can be included in the 30 credit program. Graduate course credits may be transferred with approval of the Program Director.
